Disclaimer & Data Sources

Not medical advice

GluFind is a directory, not a medical resource. Listings are based on publicly available information: menus, allergen PDFs, certifications, and diner mentions. Restaurants change suppliers, menus, and procedures without notice. Always verify with the restaurant before you eat. If you have celiac disease or a severe gluten sensitivity, ask the staff about cross-contamination protocols every time.

What our GF confidence levels mean

  • Dedicated: The venue advertises a 100% gluten-free kitchen or facility. Highest confidence, but still verify.
  • Certified - Verified by a recognized certification body (GFFS, GFCO, CRC, or similar). We link to the certification source.
  • Menu - The venue has a published gluten-free menu or allergen PDF. Does not guarantee a dedicated kitchen.
  • Options - Diners report gluten-free options are available, but the venue is not dedicated or certified. Cross-contamination risk is likely.
  • Unknown - We found the venue as a candidate but have not yet verified GF status. Not published on the site.

Where our data comes from

  • Restaurant websites & menus - Primary citation. We link to the page or PDF we used.
  • Chain allergen PDFs - Official documents published by national chains.
  • GFFS Safe Spots - Gluten-Free Food Service certification database.
  • OpenStreetMap - Community-mapped diet:gluten_free tags.
  • Diner review signals - We analyze publicly available reviews for gluten-free mentions and extract dish-level signals (e.g. “diners mention GF pizza”). We do not republish review text, reviewer names, or photos. Each venue page links to the original Google Maps listing.
  • Open Food Facts - Product data for the “Is it gluten free?” section.
  • User submissions - After launch, users can suggest edits and submit reviews. These are moderated before publishing.

What we do not do

  • We do not republish Google review text, reviewer names, or photos.
  • We do not publish a venue on scraper signal alone - every published listing has at least one independent citation.
  • We do not claim to list every gluten-free restaurant in a city. Our coverage depends on what public data is available.
  • We do not sell advertising or featured placements in v1.
